Basic Information - Business Startup - Research Project

There are five important topics to research before starting a business of your own… partnerships, incorporating, GST, PST, and trade marks…

It is important to find out more about the following 5 topics before forming your own business:

  1. Partnerships - Advantages, Disadvantages, Costs, and How to Register
  2. Incorporating - Advantages, Disadvantages, Costs, and How to Register
  3. Goods and Service Tax - What are taxable goods and services? What are tax exempt goods and services?
  4. Provincial Sales Tax - What are taxable goods and services? What are tax exempt goods and services?
  5. Trade Marks - What is it? Why get one? Registering and Fees
  6. Employment Standards - What is it? Why is it important? Who is covered by it? Describe in detail 5 major sections of the Employment Standards Act for new employers.

Here is your challenge.

  1. In your groups, research your assigned topic via the internet.
  2. Create approximately one web page of content (via monster meme) that represents only the critical information about your topic. Your web page should be colourful, depict real life examples and look visually attractive. Use font color, style, and size; no images please. The information should summarize what you have learned via the internet. Please use your own words to summarize the information. The information should be easy to read and understand. The content should highlight only the most important and basic facts for your topic.
  3. Remember to credit the source of your information by recording the URL and name of the website(s). You may include links to other reference web sites as well as links to images on other reference web sites.
  4. Lastly, compose five multiple choice quiz questions to go along with your business topic. Each quiz question should have exactly 4 possible answers to choose from. Please create challenging questions for your peers to test their understanding.
  5. Remember that your work will be published on the Internet for future generations of young entrepreneurs to visit.
